A mainstay of the Roguelike genre is the hunger clock. As you progress, you become hungry. Hunger is mitigated by food. This chapter explains why you need a hunger clock (to encourage the player to move faster), implements one, discusses the pros and cons of different durations, and implements food. It also gives a small bonus to being well fed.
